Special Sessions

Extend-A-Care for Kids offers child care during winter and spring breaks, and operates during certain student holidays.  To meet the needs of working parents, we provide optional, all-day child care to Extend-A-Care students from 7:15 am – 6:30 pm (7:00 a.m. for students in Hays CISD).  These "Special Session" programs operate at selected schools.  Additional fees and registration are required for all-day child care. Registration details including fees and activities will be handed through the centers to Extend-A-Care families and available online through your registration account approximately one month prior to each holiday.  

Students are enrolled on a first come, first served basis.  Parents registering their child for full-day child care must complete and return the registration form and required fee to Extend-A-Care's business office prior to the registration deadline.  Fee assistance is available to qualifying families seeking to enroll their child in full-day child care.

Information about locations will be posted at least 1 month prior to holiday.

2013 Spring Break Camp

Extend-A-Care is offering all-day care at the following schools for the 2013 Spring Break Camp, March 11-15, 2013.

  • AISD: Andrews, Blazier, Kocurek, Maplewood, Odom, Pillow and Zilker
  • DVISD: Del Valle Elementary
  • HCISD: Elm Grove Elementary
This year, Spring Break Campers will venture on an imaginary journey to present day Italy and the ancient Roman Empire with daily Italian cooking projects and a wide variety of craft activities including plaster frescos, clay finger puppets, Milagros (good luck charms), basket weaving, and paper gondolas. Literature to guide students on their fantasy voyage to the “Bel Paese”, or “beautiful country” will include: The Princess and the Pizza by Mary Jane Auch,  You Wouldn’t Want to Be a Roman Gladiator! by John Malam, Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi  and  Diary of Melanie Martin: Or How I Survived Matt the Brat, Michelangelo and the Leaning Tower of Pizza by Carol Weston.

AISD

Additional fees and prior registration is REQUIRED for any holiday during which Extend-A-Care provides child care services.

Extend-A-Care will provide child care on the following days:

  1. On regular school days for after-school care
  2. On Student Holidays at selected schools; separate registration and fees required: November 12 (not preschools), February 18 (not preschools) 
  3. For Winter Break, December 21 – January 4; for Spring Break, March 11 – 15; and for Summer 2013 (at selected schools; separate registration and fees required)
Extend-A-Care will not provide child care on the following days:
  1. When schools are closed/close early due to weather or emergencies
  2. On Labor Day, Thanksgiving (November 21 – 23), Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, MLK Day, March 29, Memorial Day, and July 4th
  3. Several days in May prior to the beginning of Summer Day Camp
  4. Approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the first day of the school year for cleaning of school buildings, by request of the school district.

DVISD

Extend-A-Care will provide child care on the following days:

  1. On regular school days for after-school care
  2. On Student Holidays at selected schools; separate registration and fees required: October 8, November 19 & 20, February 18
  3. For Winter Break, December 26 – January 4; for Spring Break, March 11 – 15; and for Summer 2013 (at selected schools, separate registration and fees required)
  4. Early on days when the school calendar indicates an early release for children released at 12:30 p.m.

Extend-A-Care will not provide child care on the following days:

  1. When schools are closed/close early due to weather or emergencies
  2. On Labor Day, Thanksgiving (November 21 – 23), Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, MLK Day, March 29, Memorial Day, and July 4th
  3. Several days in May prior to the beginning of Summer Day Camp
  4. Approximately 1-2 weeks prior tot the first day of the school year for cleaning of school buildings, by request of the school district.
